DJ Freeze (Ron Stanley) has been a Dallas pioneer of the modern music scene during the 80’s and 90’s. Beginning in 1983, while DJing at Confetti Dallas, he developed the “Modern Music Mondays” weekly. It was a mainstay for the underground party scene that made the weekly circuit between Anaconda, Confetti, Mistral at the Anatole, and of course, The Starck Club on the weekends.
In 1986, shortly after the famous Lower Greenville icon On The Air closed, The Video Bar opened in Deep Ellum with many of the same personalities from the On The Air club. These included VJ’s Bart Weiss, John Petropoulos, and newcomers Eddy Walton and Greg Synodis. DJ Freeze joined the team in 1986 and later acted as the program director along with Eddy and Jeff Westly.
DJ Freeze started Dallas’ first Acid House / New Beat weekly at TVB in 1988, and created the first cable access national music video show, Video Bah Television (VBTV) in 1987.
Other notable DJ Freeze residencies of the day included The Fast And Cool Club, the Weekly “Funk 108” at The State Bar and The Blind Lemmon, and The Red Room at Club Clearview.
