SUPPER & CIVIL RIGHTS!
An evening of sharing good food and food for thought!
Thursday, January 10, 2013
First United Lutheran Church

Dallas, TX 75214
6:30 reception; 7:00 supper & program (Limited seating. Sign up as "going" here to reserve your seat.)
The Bill of Rights Defense Committee, Dallas and coalition partners are planning a civil rights gathering for the evening of January 10, 2013 to bring together a broad coalition with a diversity of groups and individuals in a relaxed social setting to teach and learn about civil liberties issues from their respective views. Over a buffet supper, speakers from different groups will share their insight on how they and their groups are impacted by current civil rights issues, followed by Q & A and general discussion.
The evening will encompass a veritable smorgasbord of issues, including domestic surveillance & intelligence collection, ideological & racial profiling in the war on terror, racial profiling in the war on drugs and the war on immigration, indefinite military detention under NDAA, eminent domain abuses, mass incarceration, and/or other attacks on civil liberties.
Coalition partners include BORDC Dallas, the Dallas Peace Center, League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Code Pink Greater Dallas, Pax Christi Dallas, Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA), Texas Jail Project, Occupy Dallas, Texas Alliance for Retired Americans, North Texas Jobs With Justice, and North Texas Veterans for Peace.
