The rare find: A gay bar sports bar

Woody's is sports bar with lots of fun and entertainment. There's karaoke, drag shows, and dance parties to keep you entertained all week long.

Sucks

Gay boys DO NOT LIKE "SPORTS BARS"! Hello.. This is proof Oak Lawn bar owners stupidity is highly contagious. A gay boys sports bar. LOL. Enough said.

Good place to wind down

Really friendly bartender and somewhat calmer atmosphere than the other places nearby. Was a nice respite from all the action I had earlier. The bartender was friendly as were the other patrons. There weren't a lot of people here so if you're looking to avoid a big crowd this might be the place for you.

so so sports bar

This is a hard place to watch a game as the sound has never been on for anything major playing and one has to listen to dance mix for the DJ's thinking it is always their job to provide this function over anything to do with a sports venue. I find baseball hard to watch with dance music playing and with the monitors on the small side the score and stats graphics are hard to see from the distances that the tables are set from the monitors. Its a mixed crowd of men and women during the baseball games, which I am fine with as the women are fans versus dance mix enthusiasts and dilute the bar/drinking/party clientele comon to other bars on the strip. I tend to watch baseball Sat afternoons at the Hidden Door for getting to hear the audio as they will let you turn up the game sound if you ask, and they will usually have a group of followers watching there as well. DJ's here at Woody's will not. On a sour note I has a Ranger's championship game snapped off with the monitors taken over for dance rave media once a few years back because the home game was in a 20 minute rain delay. Not one monitor was left for sports, let alone a champion series playoff game. This was pretty much when I gave up on it as a sports bar, but I did stop in a few times on weekend days for Rangers games and had some half decent experiences with no sound, saved by the fact that there were often some Lesbians watching which I did enjoy talking with as they were fans. On a plus the bar does sponsor a softball team and hosts Pegasus PSSA awards events, which helps their sports bar status, and it is a fun time to go then at the season close as the place is filled with jock brethren and very upbeat. Other than that is is mostly just another bar on the strip and not so much a sports bar, when it comes to watching games I am sorry to say, as Dallas deserves a COMMITTED sports venue in their gay bar set.

An amazing Sports bar. So worth it.

I have just visited Woody's for the fourth time and I intend to be a loyal person to this place. Great staff and music. Quite a place to sit, relax, enjoy the night. They got their game on for sure.

A fun place to hang out

Lately I'm coming here more and more. I enjoy the staff and the crowd is laid back. It's always a good vibe. They have shows during the week and do a fun campy show tune theme on Tuesdays. I don't know half of the stuff they show but it's almost always a great crowd who are loud and having fun. I also like their comedy stuff on Friday nights. I'd defiitely recommend checking the place out.
