Wheron, a Dallas-based street art and design crew, will host the grand opening of their new creative workspace on Saturday March 26, 2016 at 410 Fabrication Street starting at 12:00 pm CST. Free and open to the public, the all-day open studio meet-and-greet with the Wheron team will include exclusive access to new Wheron merchandise and a first look at Wheron’s latest body of work, including illustrations, paintings, installations and murals.
The 1300-square-foot property sits on a quarter acre of land just off the West Dallas rails in Trinity Groves, adjacent to the Erin Cluley Gallery. The Platform’s namesake pays homage to the rich history of Dallas trains and locomotive stations found in the West part of town dating to the mid-19th Century. The repurposed home includes a working studio, showroom and event space in the creative community emerging at the foot of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge.
“The Platform will lay the tracks for many new projects and trains of thought,” said Wheron. “We are excited and proud to open the studio space as a creative hub in West Dallas for artists and locals to collaborate, create and exhibit all under one roof.”
About Wheron:
Will Heron & team established the brand and alias ‘Wheron’ in 2012 with one guiding vision: supporting, collaborating with and adding to the conversation in the Dallas art scene. Their work ranges from gallery shows—most recently the November 2015 ‘TEXIDERMY’ exhibit at ATAMA gallery—to design collaborations with the Nasher Sculpture Center store to giant street-art works like #CACTEX in Oak Cliff. Along with curating the Wheron brand, Will Heron currently teaches visual arts at a charter school in West Dallas.
