The Liliana Bloch Gallery is proud to present Ann Glazer's PACKABLE, an ultra-light, compressible show that questions the constraints of weight and space in an increasingly mobile society.
In this exhibition, Glazer explores painting in a culture that is no longer rooted. By replacing the painter's canvas with a material as light and compact as a magician's concealable silk scarf, she expands the role of the painter as an illusionist. In PACKABLE any appearance of weight and mass is pretense, for the entire exhibition can vanish into a small carry on.
Ann Glazer lives and works in Dallas and New York City. She received a BA from Brown University, an MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, and was awarded fellowships from the Dallas Museum of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been shown at the Reading Room, Women & Their Work (Austin), Dallas Center for Contemporary Art, the McKinney Avenue Contemporary, Barry Whistler, 500X, Conduit, AIR (NYC), DW and Kirk Hopper Fine Art Galleries.
