Join us for Leather Perspectives! The fourth Saturday of every month, a person who walks the leather journey, will be presenting on a leather topic. They will be presenting solely from his or her perspective as there is no one twue way in leather.
Our presenters in April are Master Jim, slave marsha, and Sir Cougar! They will be presenting on: "Leather Families"!
A bit about the class:
And Then There Were Three: How We Formed a Leather Family And Lived to Tell the Tale –
Have you ever wondered why leather families are created? Are the ties of leather families of choice less than, equal to, or greater than families of blood? What purpose do they serve? Why are they apparently so fluid? And, perhaps most importantly, what explains the long-term success of some and the short life expectancy of others? Using their experiences with the primary leather family they created on December 31, 2006 as well as previous leather families they have been a part of, Master Jim, slave marsha, and Cougar will discuss what they have learned about the formation, maintenance, and evolution of such families. They will discuss the successes, struggles, and failures that they personally have encountered. And, while they cannot provide a blueprint for creating a leather family, they can tell you what worked and what did not work for a gay leatherman and two leather dykes – one femme, one butch - who mixed together a long-standing M/s relationship, a partnered relationship, and a patriarchy all under the same roof.
This class is FREE to NLA Dallas members and $5 for non-members.
(Members, please be sure to bring your current NLA card. Without it, We cannot guarantee you will not be asked to pay the $5 fee.)
