Don't miss this very special performance by Ben Folds with Dallas Pops at the AT&T Performing Arts Center's Strauss Square.
Ben Folds first found mainstream success as the leader of the critically acclaimed, platinum- selling Ben Folds Five. He went on to have a very successful solo career, recording four studio albums in addition to a pair of records documenting his renowned live performances and a remix record. “Lonely Avenue,” a collaboration with English novelist Nick Hornby, was released in 2009 on Nonesuch Records.
In 2011, Ben Folds’ released “The Best Imitation of Myself: A Retrospective,” the long-awaited career-spanning anthology chronicling the musical adventures of pop’s quintessential post- modern singer-songwriter-pianist. The most comprehensive and definitive Ben Folds collection ever assembled and first-ever domestic overview of Folds’ music, “The Best Imitation of Myself: A Retrospective” was re-mastered from original master tapes, bringing together Ben’s biggest hits, deep catalog fan favorites, hidden treasures and collectible rarities while premiering the first newly recorded Ben Folds Five tracks in 11 years.
In 2012, Folds reunited with the Ben Folds Five and released a new album “The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind.” The band continues to tour the world in 2013.
For three seasons, Folds served as a judge on NBC’s a cappella competition “The Sing-Off.” Folds previously collaborated with Hornby on a song for the Folds-produced William Shatner album “Has Been,” which the Huffington Post called “one of the few records in recent memory that dared to tell the unvarnished truth about the human condition.”
He resides in Nashville where he owns and operates the historic RCA Studio A, where legends of all genres of music – from Elvis Presley to Dolly Parton, Tony Bennett to the Beach Boys have recorded.
Folds also has a special relationship with symphony musicians, having performed with some of the world’s greatest orchestras including a record-breaking sold-out Australian symphonic tour in 2006; repeatedly sold-out nights both at the Kennedy Center with the National Symphony Orchestra and at the Boston Pops with conductor Keith Lockhart; along with several full-house residencies at the Sydney Opera House in Australia.
